glittering blackness

Two frames from Leo's most recent medium format roll, shot with his new Zeiss Ikon Nettar.

We are actually moving in a few days, and I can't even begin to express how excited I am! We will finally have a home that is just ours. We have thrifted loads of furniture and other little things (isn't nesting the best?) during these last few months, and I can't wait to see it all come together. You'll get a photographic tour as soon as we have settled in.

Oh, by the way. I just discovered your blog last week, I saw all the posts in one afternoon and felt like an orphan afterwards. Your pictures are so inspiring, sensitive and beautiful, it's like you create a whole new world :)

  27. beautiful pictures! do you use only window light indoors? i have the zenit b as you do and my indoor shots aren't usually showing up. thank you!

    1. yes, only window light, both Leo and I very rarely shoot with artificial light. you might be using a shutterspeed that is too fast if they're not showing up on your film, if you have a DSLR you can use it to measure the light and see what aperture and shutterspeed works in those situations, and then just set the dails on the zenit according to what your digital camera says :)

  32. Hi Annette,
can you tell me how you get this amazing effect of light in a dark space? When I use medium format film in a dark room I get tons of grain! Do you use a lamp of some sort?
Thanks and lovelove your work. I realised just now I must have followed your work since 2004 or something:)
