a sporadic monday talk about books
Happy monday! I thought I would share a book recommendation today. I have been a slow reader this year. Between january-march I had a period when I read one book every week, but at some point I just stopped, after making it half-way through Sara Stridsberg's Beckomberga (which I loved and that made it even more strange to just quit).
But, the one I wanted to tell you about is this one. Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. In short, it tells the story of a relationship between Ifemelu, who emigrates from Nigeria to the U.S, and Obinze, who was supposed to follow her but couldn't make it and ends up somewhere else. Starting this book, I knew nothing more than this, but I quickly realized it would definitely become a favorite. The story wedged itself deep into my heart while going through the pages. If you haven't already - read it.
What have you been reading lately?

I'm really trying to get into reading again, for now I've finished "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman, and now halfway through "Coraline". I often find myself completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of books I'd like to read, and it's hard to start when there are so many choices.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree! If I could I would want to read lots of books at the same time. Sometimes, when I start a new one I can't stop thinking about what I should read next.

ReplyDeleteI'm reading this book called "Bluet" by Maggie Nelson, written almost like poetry as a list of paragraphs about the color blue, her love of it, human relationships and so much more. I HIGHLY recommend it. It's a pretty quick read too.
ReplyDeleteSounds so lovely, thanks for the recommendation!
DeleteOh my god coincidence! I am reading that too! I have really been loving it. She has such an honest writing style, it's very refreshing.

It really is. I'm usually not very attracted to the thought of reading books with 500+ pages, but in this every page was such a joy :)
DeleteSounds really interesting, might pick it up. I have so many books to read and so little time it's so sad! Just today I finished reading The Power Of Now (life changing book - if you can please read it)
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'll look it up!
DeleteThis book is on my list for suuuuuch a long time. I really have to read it finally.
ReplyDeleteThis year I mostly read Arne Dahlband Adler Olsen books,as I like thrillers a lot.

Yes, do it! :) I have never been much of a fan of thrillers for some reason. Thinking I should give it another try though, sometime.
DeleteAmericanah is my favorite book ever! I already read it 3 times. Its real and so smart. I love it
